Carla Hemlock

Carla Hemlock (Mohawk) from Kahnawake, discusses her artwork created to inspire conversations and educate people about issues impacting the land and her culture. Carla says the Land is first and foremost, our base, our heartbeat, our everything. An award winning master quilter, Carla began quilting when she was expecting her first child. She and her husband, Babe Hemlock collaborate on pieces of political artwork. Carla says her work is meant to engage conversations about issues that continue on her people’s lands.
