Rematriation

Indigenous organization Rematriation announces symposium on

Haudenosaunee & Indigenous Matrilineality

Submissions closed

Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal. We are excited for the next phase in our symposium planning!

Our upcoming Symposium will take place on February 28, 2025 – March 2, 2025, at Syracuse University on Onondaga Lands in the heart of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. The Symposium seeks to bring together scholars, practitioners, and students to share Indigenous values as a praxis to address critical global social and environmental issues. We welcome submissions from a wide range of disciplines and perspectives. This is an Indigenous conference, and we welcome traditional knowledge.

Relevant fields will include Indigenous Studies, legal studies (especially as they pertain to the Doctrine of Discovery and land issues), women’s studies, anthropology, archaeology, ecology, biology, environmental studies, climate studies, health, medicine, engineering (particularly as related to addressing climate change), political and governmental studies, religion, philosophy, spirituality, art, music, theater, and dance.

Indigenous ways of life have shaped our peoples. They are woven into our daily lives and guide us to this day.
